What is biotin?
Biotin is a B vitamin that helps the body use carbohydrates, fats and proteins. Most people obtain enough through food. Eggs, fish, nuts and seeds are among its sources.
Does a higher dose mean better results?
Not necessarily. Evidence for biotin supplements improving hair, skin or nails is limited. A large amount on a label is not proof of stronger hair or younger-looking skin.
A useful question to ask
“Is there a reason I need biotin, and how will we judge whether it helps?” Bring the complete label and your medicine list to that conversation.
