Why is selenium relevant?
Selenium is a nutrient involved in normal thyroid hormone production and function. It is found in foods including fish, eggs, poultry, grains and beans.
Is it a thyroid treatment?
An ingredient’s normal role in the body does not establish that taking extra treats thyroid disease. Research on selenium supplements for thyroid conditions remains uncertain, with limited benefit in some studies.
Look at the complete formula
Ask your pharmacist to clarify the amount of selenium provided, especially if the label lists a selenium compound. If you have a thyroid condition, discuss the whole formula with your clinician before using it.
